Sponsored by Frostburg State University, The Frostburg Center for Literary Arts serves Western Maryland and the surrounding areas by celebrating the literary arts through a variety of public events and productions, by educating and broadening an interested audience for literature, and by fostering new writers and their work.
Do you need a comfortable, vibrant space to read or write? Then come visit the Center in room 237 of the Lewis J. Ort 图书馆 on FSU's campus. Room 237 has a separate entrance from the main 图书馆 entrance and may be found by descending the stairs on the side of the 图书馆 nearest the Lane University Center. We have coffee, wifi access, writing reference books, and contemporary literary journals to browse. We also have free copies of our local publications: Bittersweet and Backbone Mountain Review.
Activities include bringing writers to the Frostburg community for public readings, 研讨会, and discussions; the publication and distribution of Backbone Mountain Review in partnership with the Allegany Arts Council and the Allegany County Public 图书馆 System; production of Oasis, a short weekly radio program on WFWM; a reading space with contemporary literary journals and access to a selection of the Lannan videos featuring writers such as Li-Young Lee, 艾德丽安丰富, 路易丝好运, and Octavio Paz; and literary opportunities for students and community members.
The Frostburg Center for Literary Arts is promoting the literary arts in northwestern Maryland and beyond.
